Do's
- Making sure to be on time.
- Dressing appropriately and professionally.
- Making sure that physical contact is made in terms of a handshake.
- Making eye contact with the speaker.
- Smiling and being yourself.
- Coming prepared to the interview. This includes researching the job and company, reviewing job requirements, understanding your resume back and forth, bringing extra copies of any work that you may need, and being prepared to sell yourself out.
- Taking time to organize your thoughts.
- Using appropriate body language and expressing confidence in your skills.
- Listening carefully to each question asked.
- Coming up with elaborate responses.
- Turning weaknesses into strengths.
- Attempting to ask questions during a question and answer session.
- Making sure to have a thank you note or a say of thanks after an interview.
Don'ts
- Waiting until the last minute to practice interview questions.
- Not knowing where your interview is going to take place and being late upon arrival.
- Fidget, slouch, chew gum, being arrogant, and being impolite.
- Blurting out answers to questions.
- Over embellish your answers or exaggerate.
- Oversell yourself.
- Bringing a cell phone or not turning it on silent.
- Not smiling or showing enthusiasm.
- General negativity.
