Protestant Reformation

During the 16th century, the Protestant Reformation took place. This was a reformation of religious, political, intellectual, and cultural upheavals that splintered Catholic Europe. These ideas placed a set of structures and beliefs that would define the continent into the modern era. Before discussing the Protestant Reformation as a whole, we must look into the causes of it. As the major causes of the Protestant Reformation go on, this includes political, economic, social, and religious backgrounds. There were many religious causes that involved problems with the church authority and leadership. Monk's views were also driven in anger towards the church and the direction that it was heading. Now, there were many major events in the Protestant Reformation. The first one happened in 1517 where Martin Luther took the pope to the task. With this, it sparks excitement within the Germans and many come to realize the awakening of reformation. The Reformation also became the basis for the founding of Protestantism. This became one of the three major branches of Christianity. The Protestant Reformation led to the reformation of certain basic tenets of Christan beliefs and this resulted in many divisions of Western Christendom. Many splits occurred between Roman Catholicism and the new Protestant traditions.
